Hi, I'm Chuck. I have been in the construction industry for 40+ years managing all types of new construction as well as remodeling. I am now the Captain and Operations Manager of our sailboat life as well as the social director and main contact for Sailing 4 Smiles. I love traveling, talking to people, making new friends and helping any way I can. If you want to connect give me a call!

Hi, I'm Heidi. I am a registered dental hygienist (RDH) and have been practicing since 2007. I am licensed in Colorado and the USVI. I am also an early childhood educator and love working with children. I enjoy traveling, exploring, creating, learning and teaching. My husband and I combined our strengths and loves to form Sailing 4 Smiles, a unique dental charity dedicated to children.

What We Are Doing

We want to personally say hi

We obtained our 501c3 designation for Sailing 4 Smiles in August 2019, left our jobs and set out on Mingus, our 36' Cape Dory sailboat. We sail to our destinations, visit the schools that are in need and deliver a fun, hands-on dental presentation as well as give out toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss and sand timers. We visit with over 3000 kids each year.

Sailing 4 Smiles is now active on YouTube at SV Mingus. Check out our latest video and stay tuned for more to come.

If you are in the Colorado Springs area you can also stop by the offices of Ridgeline Family Dentistry or Colorado Springs Oral & Facial Surgery.

Holy family RC school hopkins, belize

During a trip to Hopkins Belize we stopped to visit with the kids at Holy Family RC school and give away toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss and a little dental education. This visit was what started Sailing 4 Smiles on its path to what it is today. Here is a link to our video:

America's Boating Club Little River, SC

On our way south on the ICW we were invited to attend a special meeting of America's Boating Club Little River and present to the members what we were doing at their local Head Start centers. It was such a hit and we were able to raise $250. as well as toothbrush and toothpaste donations. We later took these donations, purchased more children's toothbrushes and toothpaste at the local Dollar Tree and gave them all out to the children at Long's and Green Sea Head Start Centers.

Larry Stoddard, Membership Chair of America's Boating Club Colorado contacted us while we were in the Bahamas and had such glowing things to say about Sailing 4 Smiles he published this wonderful article in their Colorado newsletter.
